Education, Craftsmanship, Community

In an era of mass-produced goods, some may wonder if the centuries-old craft of woodworking is still relevant. For us, the answer is a resounding yes. Far from being an outdated skill, woodworking has experienced a renaissance as people of all ages discover the satisfaction of creating something beautiful and functional with their own hands. Whether you’re an experienced craftsman or just curious about our avocation, woodworking has something uniquely gratifying to offer–even in the 21st century.

The Guild is dedicated to fostering the craft of woodworking through education and community. As a member, you’ll enjoy hands-on workshops, special interest groups, and mentorship opportunities, as well as discounts on products and services. You’ll also receive our weekly newsletter and can access our Classified Ads to buy or sell items.

It’s wonderful that the internet has so many how-to videos, but since actual woodworking is not a digital experience, we invite you to join the Guild so you can talk, see, and experience the hands-on joys of the craft with others.

MEETINGS & GROUPS

In a typical year, there are over 60 meetings to choose from, including up to four major meetings held in September, November, February and April, which may be single or multi-presenter demonstrations or presentations.

As our organization has grown, it’s been more difficult to meet in member shops. Many missed the intimate setting and opportunity to visit other shops, so to fill this void we schedule small meetings on different topics, usually held twice a month.

The Guild also supports a wide range of individual special interest subgroups. These groups plan their own meetings and activities, typically meeting three to six (or more) times per year at shops and other facilities around the state.

Member Discounts

Guild members are entitled to discounts on tools & supplies, wood products, woodworking
schools and services from over twenty-five sponsors.
