Morning with a Plane Maker

We are pleased that Dan Schwank, owner of Red Rose Reproductions, will talk about all things about wooden planes and custom-made tools.Dan struck out on his own in 2017 after years as a Tool & Die Maker to open “Red Rose Reproductions.” Some of you may remember that in 2018, he supplied custom, tapered and radiused blades and beech blanks to many members when we did our reproduction, Dutch hand-plane series.

Dan will explain his journey into tool-making. Then he will show and discuss some of the molding planes he makes. Many of these are based on successful British designs. To get a flavor of the planes and other tools he makes regularly in his Illinois shop click here.
